Last weekend marked the beginning of my watering hole seeking adventures, and I have to say, its off to a good start.  Located Just outside of Phoenixville, the West Vincent rope swing is a fantastic way to escape the Summer heat without making the trek all the way to the beach.  There is an active community in the area that will show you the ropes, but in case there is no one there, just be sure to check your landing area for rocks, and get a buddy to stand on the boulder in the center of the river.  You do not want to land on that! Aside from the rope swing, if you go up stream about a hundred feet, you’ll come across a swimming area with a rock formation that forms several islands that are pretty fun to sun bathe on.  Overall this is a pretty easy spot is pretty low key and pretty easy to get to.  On a warm day you will, probably meet about a dozen people from all walks of life, retired people, young people, and couples with children – this really is a place for everyone.  At the lakes deepest point it is only about 4 feet, essentially making the West Vincent swimming hole an incredibly large children’s pool.  The water is fresh, and the river is wide enough to let sunlight into the forest.  I spent my entire Saturday at West Vincent and if you leave in the area, I recommend you do the same.
