About five years ago I visited a waterfall in central Pennsylvania.  With 30 foot cliff jumps, and water resisted climbing, it was by all means a grand adventure. The experience was unforgettable – unfortunately, the location was very forgettable.  My name is Mike, and I have taken it upon myself to go out and review and document all of the watering holes in the Pennsylvania area.  Every single one of them.  Who knows? Maybe one day I’ll even find that one elusive, mystical waterfall from my younger years.

Every community seems to have their own swimming hole of some sort, be it an abandoned quarry, a natural reservoir with a few rope swings set up by a couple of locals, or even waterfalls, zip lines, and cliff jumps.  Often times these gathering areas are in the middle of nowhere and can be very elusive. That is where TheWateringHoles comes in.  The primary purpose of this blog is to let you know where your local swimming holes are.  I will post google maps coordinates for every watering hole I review.  Use these reviews as a way to plan out a cheap summer get away without driving all the way to the beach. Or hey, maybe sand just isn’t your thing. At any rate,  by years end I plan to have all of the major swimming holes in the state covered.  Obviously as a single man undertaking, my plate is pretty full, but if you know of a swimming hole that is up to par, by all means contact me.
